Many people
in the world are dissatisfied with their appearances. Most of the times, it is
just an illusion, but is an utmost annoying thing. This disorder called Body
Dysmorhia. It is the mental disorder in which you cannot stop thinking about
flaws of your body. These flaws may be even minor or non-observable, but you
may feel anxious and ashamed which can lead a person on the verge of suicide.
People with
disorder are obsessed over their appearance and body language. They check the
mirror again and again for reassurance, sometimes they spend hours at the front
of mirror in each day. People adopt various procedures to fix this perception
such as people may seek out various cosmetic procedures to feel a temporary
satisfaction. Most of the cases related with disorder can be seen in body
builders. From outer look they may seem more satisfied, but actually they are
highly dissatisfied with their appearance according to the research done at
Oxford. People just compliment themselves at the front of mirror which is not
reality instead of this it is just a speculation of mind.
There is close
relation between Body Dysmorphic disorder and Anorexia. Anorexia is an eating
disorder characterized by low weight, fearing of gaining weight and having
desire to be thin. Many people with anorexia see themselves overweight even it
is not reality. People used to do excess exercise and go on dieting etc. which
birth many other problems for example, osteoporosis, infertility, heart related
issues etc.
The research
shows that 40 percent people who have Body Dysmorphic disorder would have also
Anorexia.
